Jenny Bell, General Manager, said: “We are delighted with how phase one of the refurbishment has turned out. We have had a very positive response from residents and visitors and we are very excited about completing the refurbishment.

We always strive to offer the very best in quality standards, both in terms of the care that we deliver and also in the living environment for our residents. The investment that we have made into the refurbishment has made the surroundings even more welcoming and comfortable for residents and visitors.”

This phase of the refurbishment has included:

• Installation of state of the art nurse call system
• 20 Bedrooms completely refurbished including beautiful new curtains and carpet
• The main lounge has been redecorated giving it a warm, classic, contemporary feel
• The garden room is now bright and airy with reminiscence touches such as a sewing table and accessories
• Complete re decoration of the dining room
• All ground floor corridors have been completely re decorated with colour accent doors, large room numbers, artwork and street names to help with wayfinding
• The hair salon has been given a make over
• Brand new reception area including automated entrance doors for ease of accessibility
• A beautifully decorated library with memorabilia detail including gramophone
• New artwork including old images of Northern Ireland, vintage adverts, images of flowers from Movilla's own gardens
• The creation of a meeting room for meetings with resident's families, staff and caregivers
• New branding and signage including street names for corridors
• Resurfacing the car parking area
• Reconfiguration of the kitchen and new appliances
• Updated and redesigned office area including upgraded computer system
• New digital telephone system with direct lines
• Flooring was assessed to make sure there are no strips or changes in floor colour that could act as an unintentional barrier and present a trip risk

Phase two of the refurbishment will include:

• Continued refurbishment of remaining bedrooms
• Complete redecoration of first floor corridors
• New artwork for remaining areas
